KNYSNA NEWS - On Thursday 30 November the last general meeting of Knysna U3A will take place at the Brenton-on-Sea community hall. Doors open at 09:00 when tea, coffee and Christmas cake will be served.
Our finale this year is a real celebration. We start off with Robert Smith giving us an opportunity to tap our toes and let our hair down, and then Phil Golson will give us something to mull over.
Music: a universal language?
This will be an encore as Phil’s presentation in January resulted in so many requests for more after his inspiring introduction to musical instruments. His cause is also the recipient of our annual donation to a chosen charity, so it is fitting that he will “Play for Grace”!
Dr Phil Golson is president and director of the Garden Route Arts, Communication and Education (Grace Inc) based in Knysna. He is also on the management team for Knysna Hope. A member of the Knysna Primary School governing body, he was past associate professor of music at Clearwater Christian College (FL) and past assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin (La Crosse). Other positions include teaching assistant at the University of South Carolina, adjunct lecturer at Viterbo University (WI), and the University of South Carolina-Sumter.
All are welcome. Members pay R5 and visitors R10 towards the hire of the hall.
