KNYSNA NEWS - Families SA's (Famsa) Knysna office will be holding its second annual golf day on the second anniversary of the 2017 Knysna fires in an effort to raise funds for the work they do.
Famsa is an organisation that aims to develop human potential by providing counselling, education and training for South Africans who feel they need help with relationship issues.
Some of the organisation's focus areas include violence and trauma, HIV/Aids, abusive relationships, poverty, and relationship breakdowns.
Famsa's mission is to preserve the family with preventative and remedial services which build on existing strengths in individuals, couples, groups and communities and enables people to deal with modern-day stressors and issues that threaten family life. However, the services unfortunately don't come easy and Famsa often requires some sort of financial assistance to ensure they're able to continue the work they do.
Major boost
This is naturally where fundraising initiatives such as the golf day come in and play a major role in ensuring the organisation is able to stay up-and-running and capable of continuing its amazing work with families in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. This year's Famsa Golf Day is to be held on the second anniversary of the 2017 Knysna fires, a disaster that destroyed a large area of Knysna's landscape and left families homeless and traumatised.
The golf day takes place on Friday 7 June at Simola Golf and Country Estate and costs R2 000 per fourball and R500 per individual. It will set off at 10:00, and there will also be sponsorship opportunities aplenty for businesses who would like to promote themselves during the golf day.
Famsa Knysna director Karin du Plessis would also like to remind victims of the fires that now would be a good time to discuss and work through any trauma they might still be experiencing.
