KNYSNA NEWS - Bound-to-Rise is an initiative developed by young successful Knysna professionals aimed at empowering the pupils from Hornlee and Fraaisig primary schools to dream big while showing them that success lies inevitably with hard work, and that their circumstances are not a determining factor.
The mentoring programme entails job shadowing and exposure to different professions the youth aspire to be in.
On August 5, 16 students who made it into the Bound-to-Rise mentoring programme were announced for both schools.
The founders – Lizelle Harker, an attorney and owner of Harker Attorneys, and Enrico Prins, the chief executive and owner of E Prins and Associates Accountants – recruited the first nonblack doctor in town who has his own practice, Dr Rodney Lewies, of Lewies Medical Practice, to plough back into these schools.
