Knysna Secondary School
On Friday 18 April, computer equipment and building material were stolen at Knysna Secondary school.
"This matter was reported to police on 18 April. Circumstances surrounding this matter are under investigation," said Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies.
On Sunday 21 April there was break-in at at the same school where a windowpane, two window frames and two cameras were damaged. According to Millicent Merton, communications officer for the Western Cape Education Department, a computer, mouse and monitor, as well as two taps, were stolen.
In addition, a gas stove pipe, a door, lock and handle were damaged. "The estimated cost of the damage in both burglaries was R10 200. Both burglaries were reported to the police," she said.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies confirmed both cases and said they have been reported to the police.
"The detectives are investigating a burglary case following an incident where computer equipment and building material were stolen at the Knysna Secondary School. Both investigations are underway," said Spies.

Knysna High School
According to Spies, a case of vandalism at KHS was reported on 18 April. The security guard company acted swiftly. Several windows were broken but nothing was stolen.
"Information available suggests that on 18 April a man damaged windows of the school. The suspect (18) was arrested in connection with this matter.
He was scheduled to appear in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Tuesday 23 April."
KHS principal Mark Mosdell said it is the first time in quite a while that this has happened. "We had a burglary in 2021 but no major incidents since then. It is unfortunate, I have to say that our neighbours, especially Loeriehof, are very good at keeping an eye out for our facilities and alerting us. I think that it really helps when the community is vigilant," he said.
