KNYSNA NEWS - Deputy Minister in the Presidency Pinky Kekana paid Knysna Municipality a visit on Friday 2 June, to conduct a frontline service delivery visit.
The aim of this follow-up visit is to gain insight into the progress of service delivery issues outlined since the previous visits made by Deputy Minister Kekana in October last year.
Kekana was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Pamela Tshwete and Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Dr Nobuhle Nkabane, as well as Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform, and Rural Development Mcebisi Skwatsha.
The officials all came together to assist the municipality in addressing certain challenges.
A meeting was held between the various government delegates and representatives of Knysna Municipality in the Knysna Council chambers, where a variety of topics and issues were discussed.
This included waste management problems within the municipality, electrical infrastructure upgrades, upgrading of certain roads and infrastructure, and many more.

The meeting was followed by walkabouts in various communities to oversee various projects that the municipality is in the process of implementing within its greater geographical area. Deputy Minister Kekana was accompanied by Knysna Mayor Ndoda Aubrey Tsengwa during the site visits, where they visited a variety of areas.
"This site visit is crucial for us to see how the departments have complied with District Development.
"I implore the relevant officials sitting here to take each other by the hand to help this beautiful district. There are many other issues that we still have to address and there are bigger plans yet to come for them all. But we need cooperation from our sister departments in order to see the results we seek," said Kekana.
