PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Cooperation between various crime fighters led to the arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in two attempted murder incidents and the confiscation of illegal firearms.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) operations head Otto Olivier said their rapid response unit along with Plettenberg Bay and Knysna police as well as highway patrol and Bitou Law Enforcement responded to a call-out on 1 June.
A man, allegedly connected to two attempted murder cases, was spotted on the N2 in Plett. Olivier said he was spotted on license plate recognition (LPR) cameras.
The various crimefighters responded immediately and managed to arrest the man just outside Plett. In an unrelated incident on the same day, crime fighters received information about a suspect with illegal firearms and ammunition.
They managed to track the suspect down in Harkerville and found him in possession of a firearm that had its serial number filed off.
They also found a homemade "pipe gun" which fires shotgun rounds as well as ammunition.
The suspect was arrested, police confirmed.
