KNYSNA NEWS - Renowned South African comedian and ventriloquist Conrad Koch delivered a powerhouse performance at Knysna Gin on 4 October, leaving the packed venue roaring with laughter.
Best known for his razor-sharp puppet, Chester Missing, Koch brought his signature mix of political satire, social commentary, and high-energy comedy to the scenic Garden Route town.
Koch has a personal connection to Knysna, having spent much of his childhood here. "It was my home away from home," he shared. "My grandparents' ashes are buried at the little church in Belvidere, and my grandfather lived in the area."
That deep-rooted bond with Knysna added an extra layer of warmth to the evening's performance.
The event was hosted in collaboration with local promoter Dominic Morel of Better Live.
"Knysna audiences are always amazing - a mix of locals and tourists who make for an electric atmosphere," said Koch.
This was his first time performing at Knysna Gin, which he praised as an outstanding venue for live entertainment. The night featured Koch's trademark audience interaction and quick wit, with Sedgefield - Knysna's "hilarious smaller cousin" - receiving its fair share of playful jabs.
From start to finish, Koch had the crowd in stitches, confirming his place as one of South Africa's most respected comedic talents. His performance was a heartfelt homecoming wrapped in laughter.
