Update
KNYSNA NEWS - Earlier this week, Knysna police opened an investigation into the death of an elderly man whose body was found at the Green Hole on Leisure Isle in the early hours of the morning.
The Green Hole is typically a place for fun and celebrations among Knysna residents, with the braai areas and easy access to the beach a convenient way to enjoy the day out with family.
But the area took on a more sombre tone after a man's body was found at the site on Leisure Isle.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, the body of the 75-year-old man was found by security personnel at about 06:50 in morning on Tuesday 16 March. "Police responded to the scene and the man was declared dead by paramedics on scene. The cause of death is yet to be determined. No foul play is suspected," Spies clarified.
"An autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted during the week."
Spies stated further that the man's vehicle as well as some personal belongings were also found at the parking area, and that the identity of the deceased will not be disclosed.
