PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Residents within Bitou Municipality have been requested to partake in a survey on humans and baboons in shared landscapes.
While all Bitou residents are requested to participate, particular emphasis was placed on those in the Crags, Nature's Valley, and Longships/Robberg areas.
The survey is part of Plett resident Miila Kauppinen's PhD project through Wageningen University, in conjunction with Dr Ruth Kansky from Stellenbosch University and two Dutch supervisors.
The project's topic is human-baboon interactions in Plettenberg Bay area, and involves an ecological component and a social component (learning about people's/communities' ways of relating to and dealing with baboons).
In the survey residents are asked questions about their views and behaviors relating to baboons and other wildlife, and how to deal with issues related to baboons. It takes 30-40 minutes to complete.
