PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Moses and Portia Malala from Kwanokuthula, who both survived the George building collapse six months ago on 6 May, have welcomed a new member to their family - a boy born on Thursday 14 November.
They've named him Survivor. Malala (34) was on the fifth floor of the George building when it collapsed, and says he still has a lot of memories from that day.
Thirty-four people died in the disaster.
On Monday 18 November, Malala, in a telephone interview, recalled the day of the tragedy. "I was working on level 5 (the top level of the building).
'Fell through the air'
"I fell through the air. My wife was also working in the building, cleaning up after the builders.
"Once on the ground I called out to her among the dust and she was in the corner of the building.
"Seriously, we survived," said Malala.
He no longer works for the company that employed him in George and does some "piece" work as a bricklayer in Plettenberg Bay.
Malala, originally from Limpopo, said his wife was pregnant at the time of the collapse. Both are happy with their new arrival.
Malala says they are going to have "a big, big party in Limpopo" when they next return there.
