KNYSNA NEWS - In honour of Mandela Day this year, staff and volunteers from the Knysna/Sedgefield Hospice elicited the help of personnel and residents from the Epilepsy SA South Cape/Karoo branch to put together dignity packs for those in need.
"We supply essential toiletries to our patients and their families that are in dire need," said Karen Gschwend, public relations officer for the Knysna/Sedgefield Hospice.
"These dignity packs include sanitary items, deodorant, and other vital items that are difficult to afford when a family is facing a terminal illness. We do this because palliative care is not just about pain and symptom management, but about dignity and quality of life."

The donations of essentials for the packs came from private individuals and companies alike, and the Hospice and Epilepsy teams came together on Monday 18 July (Mandela Day) to carry out their 67 minutes of charitable work by putting together the dignity packs.
These packs will go to both underprivileged members of Knysna and the patients under Hospice care who need it most.Residents of the Epilepsy SA South Cape/Karoo branch Annmarie Verwey, Arlene Wilson and Paula Clarke with the bags they packed.
