Update
KNYSNA NEWS - Two counts of defeating the ends of justice have been added to the murder case of 40-year-old Mervyn Bock, who stands accused of murdering his girlfriend, Velia Angelique Strydom (39).
Strydom’s body was discovered on 12 December near the Red Bridge outside Knysna, prompting a police investigation that led to Bock’s arrest.
During Bock’s first court appearance on Monday 5 January, the state indicated that the incidents which allegedly resulted in Strydom’s death may have occurred between 6 and 8 December. The prosecution opposed Bock’s release on bail, citing the seriousness of the charges against him.
The court remanded Bock in custody and the matter was postponed to 26 January for a formal bail hearing.
