KNYSNA NEWS - A 34-year-old woman, believed to be from Plettenberg Bay, lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on the N2 at the Hornlee turn-off on Tuesday 13 January.
Knysna Police have opened a culpable homicide and drunk driving docket.
Preliminary reports indicate that police responded to the accident at about 08:10. "Upon arrival, officers found a pedestrian who had sustained serious injuries after being hit by a Volkswagen Polo.
The 34-year-old woman was declared dead on the scene by paramedics," said Southern Cape police spokesperson Warrant Officer Chris Spies.
The driver, a 47-year-old man, was arrested on the scene. Reports suggest the vehicle, carrying the driver and four passengers, was travelling from Plettenberg Bay to Knysna at the time of the accident.
"The suspect remains in police custody and will appear in court once formally charged," Spies said.
The 47-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Polo was arrested on the scene.
