KNYSNA NEWS - A 39-year-old man from Dam-se-Bos South has been killed during an alleged housebreaking incident, with two suspects now facing multiple serious charges.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Warrant Officer Chris Spies confirmed the incident, stating that it occurred in the early hours of Friday 2 January. Knysna Police were called to a residence in Sonqayi Street, Dam-se-Bos, at approximately 04:30.
Police officers found the victim with a stab wound to the head. Emergency medical services were summoned, but the man was declared dead on the scene.
A police investigation was immediately launched, leading to the arrest of two suspects, both aged 24. The suspects have been charged with murder, housebreaking with intent to commit a crime unknown to the State, and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The accused made their first appearance in the Knysna Magistrate's Court on Monday 5 January, where they were remanded in custody.
The matter was postponed to Monday 12 January to allow for bail information and legal representation.
During their second court appearance, the two suspects were once again remanded in custody. A formal bail application hearing has been scheduled for 20 January.
