PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - The body of a young local woman discovered in New Horizons on Women’s Day has been identified.
Local police spokesperson Captain Marlene Pieterse confirmed that the victim was 22-year-old Restonay Bernardes. “Her body was identified by her father, a Qolweni resident. She is the mother of a one-year-old child,” Pieterse said.
New Horizons residents made the grisly discovery just off the N2 on 9 August 2018 in an open field next to the national road.
A postmortem revealed that Bernardes had been raped and the cause of death was strangulation.
Pieterse urged anyone with information about the murder to contact detective Sergeant Gilbert Bulawa on 044 501 1941 or 083 284 9359.
There have been social media plights to assist the family with funeral arrangements.
