GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The SA Weather Service has issued a warning of possible flash flooding for tonight and tomorrow morning.
According to forecaster Wayne Venter, this is due to very heavy rainfall, albeit sporadic, that will hit the Garden Route from today, Friday 15 September.
Venter says a significant upper air system developing into a cut-off low will be the cause of this rainfall, including within the Knysna area.
“The low-pressure system being cut off by a high-pressure system in the upper air will add to this,” he says.
“A significant high-pressure system will push in moisture across the Southern Cape tonight with winds becoming strong onshore. The confidence for rainfall is high and a 80% chance for moderate to heavy rainfall is in the forecast from later tonight,” he says, adding that all should be clear by Sunday.
According to Venter a maximum of 17°C can be expected for tomorrow, Saturday 16 September.
