The stakeholders, not only networked with one another, but shared their vast knowledge of the tourism industry with the youth who showed interest in following a career in the industry. "Although the feet through the expo were a little slow, our networking opportunity was fantastic," said Pam Snyman, event organiser and Skål Garden Route member and former president.
Although the public participation was a little slow this year, Snyman said that she was satisfied with the event, "I believe that today is a good indication that this event will grow from strength to strength as it gains momentum."
She added that the three food stalls run by Francois Ferreira Acadamey, the Internation Hotel School Plettenberg Bay and the Knysna Tourism Living Local Green Chefs provided "great exposure for the students".
The organisers are already planning next year's Tourism and Skills Development Expo. "We received great feedback from all, visitors and exhibitors alike, and are really excited about growing this expo to later include international tourism stakeholders," concluded Snyman.
