KNYSNA NEWS - The organisers of the popular annual FNB Forest Family Hike, now in its eighth year and a highlight of the Knysna Oyster Festival, have launched three exciting new events which together will create a week of festive family activities to keep you active and entertained in Knysna this winter, from 24 – 28 June.

FNB Forest Family Hike
On Monday 24, Wednesday 26 and Friday 28 June the much-loved FNB Forest Family Hike will be back to thrill and exhilarate participants who can choose one of three distances depending on their age and fitness levels: 2.5km, 6km or 10km. This unique hike along established trails in the Harkerville forest is traditionally undertaken in fantasy costumes provided to aspiring fairies and superheroes by the organisers.
Trail Run
More active visitors to Knysna who would prefer to run the 6km or 12km forest trails of the FNB Forest Family Hike are invited to do so before the hikes on Wednesday 26 and Friday 28 June at 08:30.
MTB Meander
This new event is for mountain bike enthusiasts who can choose either the 12km Blue Duiker route or the more challenging Knysna Elephant Red route. The former follows jeep track, singletrack and forest roads. The Red Route is a more technical, tough ride, with exhilarating singletrack and fairly steep inclines and declines.
Kurland Forest Triathlon
The inaugural Kurland Forest Triathlon is a swim, cycle and run at the scenic Kurland Estate outside Plettenberg Bay. Swim in the dam and cycle and run along trails in the beautiful indigenous forest. You can choose from the Clydesdale Standard Triathlon (800m, 18km, 8km) or the Polo Pony Sprint Triathlon (400m, 9km, 4km).
For children there's the Shetland Super Sprint Triathlon (100m, 3km, 1km).
Event info and entry fees
Adults who enter online will receive a long-sleeved top and kids 12 and under will receive a gift. Early-bird entries are just R390 per adult and R150 per child under 12 and valid until 10 June.
For great value and if you want to participate in all the events, purchase the Early Bird Hat Trick Package (hike or run / bike / triathlon) for just R850 per adult or R350 per child before 10 June.
