PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - In just a few weeks, Plettenberg Bay residents and visitors can again party the night away for a good cause with the return of the popular Surfers Ball.
The event, which was first held in 2007 but has been on ice for several years, is organised to raise funds for organisations dedicated to the ocean.
This year the beneficiaries include Adopt a Surfer NPC, Plett Shark Spotters, the Empowered Programme, Mel Makes Waves' research.
"These organisations represent the very best of our commitment to social upliftment, education, safety and conservation," organisers said. "Each ticket purchased, each bid placed in the auction, and every cheer raised to the bands and DJs performing is a step towards a brighter future and safeguarding our marine heritage."
This year's ball was initiated by local businesses and organisations. It will be held on Central Beach on 8 December from 18:00 until midnight.
"The Surfers Ball is a unique blend of elegance and oceanic flair. Ladies and gentlemen are invited to dress in their finest - fancy dresses for her, blazers and board shorts for him - all to embrace the 'Surf Sophisticate' style. It's an occasion to don your most stylish attire while keeping the relaxed vibe of a beach soiree. Shoes are optional."
Tickets for the event went on sale on Monday 13 November and are available at Surf Café at the Beacon Isle Centre in Plettenberg Bay.
Those who are not able to join but still want to be a part of the occasion, can purchase a non-attending ticket and will receive a gift parcel to for their support.
