A festive crowd of invited guests gathered among red balloons to clink their champagne glasses at the offices of Knysna-Plett Herald on Monday to welcome Spring as well as a new season at the newspaper. "Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Sedgefield are special towns with special people and it is a privilege to bring you the news and tap into the rhythm of your heart beat," said the new editor, Ingrid Erlank.
"The Knysna-Plett Herald is your paper and we want you to take ownership of it. Like you, we want to live in a happy, wholesome, and prosperous community and this newspaper can play a leading role in stimulating commerce, keeping politics free and fair and keeping our streets safe. We are here to serve our community."
Erlank invited the community to celebrate new beginnings with the Knysna-Plett Herald team and asked everyone who attended to remind her and her team who she and her team are writing for every week. "This paper is for you, own it!"
Nicole Rimbault, Group Editors' operations director, congratulated the Knysna-Plett Herald team on their effort and said that despite what people may think, print media has a bright future in community papers.
