For a donation of R100 (jump from the top level) or R50 (lower level) participants took the Spring Leap for Charity.
This event was invented by Anja Nel (marketing manager of Protea Hotel Knysna Quays) and Sheldon Meese (general manager of Knysna Quays Waterfront), who wanted to expand the benefits of an ALS ice bucket challenge the Protea Hotel Knysna Quays had received. To support not only the ALS Association but also Famsa Knysna and Casual Day, the ice bucket challenge was combined with a bridge jump challenge. The Protea Hotel Knysna Quays team was given the chance to execute the ice bucket challenge and after dumping ice-water on their heads they jumped off the blue bridge.
The bridge was then be declared open to the public, offering an excellent opportunity for team-building. The worthy event was eagerly supported by local businesses and residents with brave hearts.
Donors could choose to donate money to either Casual Day or to Famsa Knysna. The Knysna Quays Protea Hotel contributed R1 000 to Casual Day whilst The Waterfront did the same for Famsa.
