KNYSNA NEWS & VIDEO - One of the more blissful aspects of leaving the city and settling in a small town is the lack of traffic. This does not mean that jams don’t occur on the odd occasion.
But if you happen to have chosen a special coastal haven such as Knysna to escape to, even the odd bit of road congestion will be, well, special - as bystanders and motorists alike came to realise yesterday evening at the Waterfront Drive and Long street junction when the slight delay in traffic flow was caused by a massive sea-going vessel.
During its short transfer from the Kinetic Catamarans shop floor in New Street to the Yacht Club nearby, one wheel of the slick silver 54ft carbon fibre catamaran’s trailer got stuck on the raised central reservation in the road leading to Thesen Islands.
It is not an uncommon occurrence for haulers of large, says the company’s owner, Leon Scheepers, who also stands poised to soon embark on the large development behind Food Lovers Market (see front page KPH 14 July).

“The trailers are too wide for that stretch of road and we have to drag larger vessels at a slight slant with one set of wheels on the central reservation for that section of the journey,” he told KPH this morning.
All’s well that ends well, however. The spanking new $3,5m dollar yacht was delivered to its new owners from the Netherlands and was safely launched as soon as the tide had risen enough at around 05:00 today. - Editor
