PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A slippery suspect, allegedly involved in theft from a Plettenberg Bay shop, was finally apprehended after he managed to avoid crimefighters twice.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) operations head Otto Olivier said that they received a request for assistance after a man allegedly stole several items from a shop in Main Street last Thursday.
Olivier said the shop owner chased the suspect down and apprehended him near the St Peter's Anglican Church and informed local police about the incident.
"The suspect managed to wriggle himself free and then ran towards Market Square.
"The suspect was caught again by the gentleman near The Grand, but again the suspect managed to slip away and ran into the bushy area near Phitidis Walk," Olivier said.
After a meticulous search by Smhart Security officers, Bitou municipal law enforcement officers and members of the public, the suspect was arrested and handed over to police. Plettenberg Bay police confirmed the incident.
