KNYSNA NEWS - The Garden Route Skills Mecca Summit was held at Knysna High School on Thursday 13 July, as a means of bridging the skills gap for investment and economic growth.
Advancement for all at Skills Mecca was a key theme of the day’s programme. Skills Mecca aims to equip the youth with skills for career development and to bring resources to rural areas to stimulate career growth.
The Garden Route Skills Mecca was an open forum for panellists to present practical solutions, outline provision to invest in skills development, focus on industry-specific skills development, drive the Skills Mecca through all municipalities and integrate these areas in the development in skills for both the private and public sector.
A few of the notable speakers were GRDM Municipal Manager Monde Stratu, CEO of the Experttech Group Jan van der Westhuizen and GRDM Mayor Memory Booysen.
After the programme, attendees visited the Career Festival at the Knysna High School field.
