KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Provincial Hospital welcomed seven bundles of joy into the world on Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Ten babies were born over this period last year.
The first baby - a girl born to mom Yomelela Tom - was keen to greet this world, arriving at 00:13. She weighed 4,3kg and was 55cm long. Two more babies would be born on Christmas, bringing the total of babies to three for the day - two girls and a boy.
"Western Cape Government Health congratulates the parents on the safe delivery of all the new arrivals on Christmas Day," said spokesperson Nadia Ferreira.
"We also extend a sincere thank you to all our staff members, including midwives, for their hard work and dedication on this special day."
New Year's Day was slightly more eventful for the midwives at the hospital, who delivered four babies.
Mother Lusanda Ndoya was the first new mother of the year in Knysna, as her daughter Iphemna was born a few hours into the new year, arriving at 03:10, weighing 2,4kg.
The hospital would deliver a further three babies on the day – one girl and two boys.
No babies were born at Life Knysna Private Hospital on either Christmas Day or New Year's Day.
