PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Following the massive success of Bitou's e-waste drive in September, which saw a record haul collected, another one is around the corner.
The next collection is on Saturday 4 December at the Piesang Valley Hall parking area between 09:00 and 13:00.
Keep Plett Clean's Alison Bryant called on all businesses and households in Plettenberg Bay to make use of the the opportunity to get rid of electronic waste in a responsible way and to prevent it from ending up on landfill.
Bryant said the drive is a collaborative effort between Keep Plett Clean, the Bitou Municipality and LG E-waste specialists.
During the September drive a four-ton and a one-ton truck as well as a municipal bakkie were completely filled with electronic waste - the most e-waste they had collected in four years.
Residents can bring anything that is powered by electricity or batteries, including cellphones, printers, fridges, tumble dryers, televisions, computers, laptops, kettles, toasters, hairdryers, tools, leads and batteries.
Globes will be taken at a small fee and no hazardous chemical waste will be allowed.
Residents are urged to bring along a piece of paper with their names, contact details and a list of the goods they are dropping off.
A small voluntary donation on the day will be welcomed to cover costs.
