KNYSNA NEWS - Rangers from the Garden Route National Park tackled areas around the Knysna Estuary on Africa Day, 25 May, to alleviate the issue of pollution at the water's edge.
According to the park's spokesperson Nandi Mgwadlamba, they organised the cleanup to coincide with Africa Day, and with teams of rangers on hand they swept through areas such as the Railway Bridge, Crabs Creek, the Red Bridge and the Point.
Mgwadlamba also pointed out that when there's no nationwide lockdown, cleanup duties are not usually carried out by rangers.

"Sanparks' Working for the Coast teams and the Knysna Municipality cleaning teams often clean up areas above the high-water mark, but since lockdown, rangers have had to clean up these areas, and also carry out other duties," she said.
