Update
KNYSNA NEWS - Ruan Gouws emerged victorious in Round 2 while Charl Wilken emerged victorious from an extremely closely contested Round 3 of the Virtual Knysna Simola Hillclimb.
The final results were delayed in Round 2 as the clerk of the course had to impose time penalties on competitors, who found a way to illegally improve their run times.
The track has now been modified to prevent competitors being able to gain an advantage. As in Round 1, the competition was fierce, with the leaderboard changing daily as the competitors fought for position.
The top three in Round 2 were eventually separated by only 0.084 seconds, with less than a second covering the top 19 competitors, and the top 52 all within two seconds. Gouws eventually took the win with a time of 37.517 seconds, finishing ahead of Van Rensburg (37.528), Gualtieri (37.601), Adriaan Nel (37.758), Denis Mitchel (37.779), and Quayde Claassens (37.799).
Round 2 ran from 29 March to 4 April using the Tatuus FA01 single seater as the specified race car. Ninety-three unique competitors signed up for the round and more than 4 100 official runs (excluding private practice runs) up the hill were recorded.
Round 3 started on 5 April and continued to 11 April, with the selected car for the round a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3. The round saw 3 316 official runs being made up the hill, with the total number of runs over the three rounds now standing at more than 12 000.

Charl Wilken was, however, the one who emerged victorious, with a winning time of 36.697 seconds on the last day to pip Gouws by just 0.068 seconds, with Round 1 winner Lorenzo Gualtieri taking the final podium place a scant 0.083 seconds off Wilken’s pace
In total 129 drivers have scored points for the competition, with the top 30 all still in with a chance to qualify for the Top 10 shootout finale.
Round 4 started on 12 April and runs until 18 April. The mystery car, the Le Mans-winning Mercedes-Benz C9, was only announced an hour before the start of the round to minimise the practice time available to competitors.

The scores from all four rounds will produce the Top 10 competitors to qualify for the finals on 8 and 9 May, and the winner after those two days of competition will be crowned the Virtual King of the Hill that Sunday evening.
Competitors looking to take part must have Assetto Corsa (PC version only) and a valid Steam account. To compete, the add-on Virtual Knysna Simola Hillclimb track must be downloaded and installed.
Entries into the Virtual Knysna Simola Hillclimb competition are free and no age restrictions are applicable.
