KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna's green revival continues at the hands of non-profit community group, Revive Knysna, a collective of Knysna locals who are on a determined eco-mission to revive the town's pavements and green areas.
The group's very first project entailed cleaning up and planting flowers on the sidewalk along the train tracks at the Waterfront Drive/Long Street intersection at the beginning of August.
The group is driven by the aims of promoting tourism in the town following the devastating effects of Covid-19 on the industry, and of contributing towards getting Knysna ready for when things go back to "normal".
For now their projects have focused on Waterfront Drive, which is one of the town's main tourism arteries as it links the east and west sides of town while also providing access to Thesen Islands and the Knysna Waterfront.

They have started a unique campaign entitled #pavementproud, which is targeted at getting residents to take pride in what lies roadside in their town.
The continued greening and beautification of Waterfront Drive has given it a much-needed facelift and breathed some fresh life into the plants that span the road sides.
They have received great support from private companies such as Blue Waters Construction, that helps with removing material when needed. There is also Knysna Municipality's Fire and Rescue Department that helps water the newly planted greenery.
This is only the beginning. Revive Knysna will continue to overhaul the pavements that flank the sides of Knysna's roads.
The Knysna Fire & Rescue Department contributes by watering the newly planted beds.
