GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Police have urged the public to come forward with information that could lead to the arrest of suspects involved in several rape cases in Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie said the first incident took place in Hornlee on 26 October last year.
It is alleged that a man approached a 42-year-old woman at about 18:00 and dragged her into nearby bushes near Harker and Davidson streets where raped her before fleeing the scene.
The second incident happened just before 08:00 in Kairo near Nekkies on 1 August last year. It is alleged that the victim, a 29-year-old woman, was walking in a footpath when she was approached by a man unknown to her. "The suspect was armed with a knife with which he threatened her, took her belongings and raped her thereafter," Pojie said.
He added that the suspects in both cases had not yet been arrested. He requested the public to come forward with any information that may assist the police in this investigation.

Pojie said that they also needed assistance following an incident in Plettenberg Bay. He said on 26 April this year a woman walked to a tavern along High Street in Wittedrift to buy some alcohol. At about 21:30, a unknown man grabbed her and dragged her into nearby bushes where he raped her.
