PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay non-profit organisation Born in Africa is celebrating 15 years of assisting the town’s youth with, among others, a street parade on 16 February.
Born in Africa provides academic, social and life skill programmes to youngsters from underprivileged areas in Bitou.
Their academic programme focuses on education and tertiary studies, while their social programme is driven by an individual mentorship.
In its life skills programme, the organisation focuses on enriching learners’ lives by exposing them to life outside their “limited daily routine”.
Over the past 15 years Born in Africa has assisted hundreds of children and youngsters through their programmes.
To celebrate this, festivities kicked off on 12 February and will end on a high note on Friday with the parade.
The parade will start at 12:00 and include singing and dancing through the town’s Main Street and will include all 400 children, about 100 staff and board members, godparents and sponsors.
It will end with a big group photograph at Signal Hill view point.
