PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Art enthusiasts have the opportunity to see the diverse artistic talent of Plettenberg Bay as four local artists who have been mentored by renowned artist Cyril Coetzee, exhibit their work.
Coetzee is a former art history lecturer at Wits University and a freelance art teacher.
The exhibition, dubbed "The Palette, The Furnace and Off the Blade", will be hung on 8 and 9 April from 10:00 to 18:00 at the Piesang Valley Hall in Plettenberg Bay.
The artists, Gilly Gregory, Ingrid Tonkin, Tessa Hinton and Bets Henning, will exhibit about thirty of their paintings. They will be joined by other artists including Harkerville sculptor Robbert Leggat and contemporary furniture creator Patrick Reid.
Leggat recently had a bronze sculpture, The Archangel Michael Slaying the Dragon installed at the grounds of Michaelhouse School in the Natal Midlands. It forms part of a re-landscaping of the school grounds with a terraced front garden leading into a pool with the sculpture.
Leggat will be exhibiting some recent work which includes birds, a pangolin, honey badger, dung beetle and other bronze sculptures.
