KNYSNA NEWS - The much delayed physical induction ceremony for 2021/22 Knysna Rotary president Albert Lombaard finally took place on Tuesday 2 November at the Knysna Hollow Country Estate, with past president Andrew Finn formally passing on the presidential chain and club charter to Lombaard.
Three Rotarians were presented with Paul Harris awards at the function.
This award recognises outstanding contributions in placing "service above self" and is one of the highest accolades that Rotary can bestow.
Sue Fairweather has worked tirelessly over many years to arrange the club's popular annual four-day golf tournament fundraiser.
The 21st Rotary Knysna Charity Golf Event that took place in May was hugely successful, despite the challenging circumstances. A whopping 235 golfers booked and played 794 rounds of golf, with every course booked out on every day.
George Coon and Herb Hunter were the "legs" of last year's Rotary Covid-19 food relief project for Knysna, which included the distribution of 3 200 food parcels, 6 117 grocery vouchers and 525 soup kitchen hampers.
Together they oversaw the organisation and packing of all the food parcels and they also made weekly deliveries to 18 soup kitchens in the greater Knysna area over a period of 23 weeks.
