NVT birthdday donation drive

PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - As part of its 21st birthday celebrations, Plett-based conservation organisation Nature's Valley Trust (NVT) is running a donation drive to raise funds towards its ongoing conservation efforts.

"Over the past 21 years, NVT has successfully completed a multitude of programmes and projects aimed at conserving the ecological integrity of beautiful Nature's Valley and surrounding areas," a newsflash from the organisation read.

"The list is substantial, including more strategic programmes such as the overall monitoring of threats to our environment, species-focused research projects and importantly, the over learners that we have put through conservation education programmes."

The organisation's work continues to include day-to-day conservation actions, ecological research in the fynbos, rivers, estuaries and marine/coastal biomes, conservation education and community engagement.

"We strive to link the people of Nature's Valley to their natural heritage, not only by building awareness and knowledge of nature, but encouraging their love for it."

NVT is currently expanding a number of its programmes with the intention of offering more local activities for its supporters, including presentations by local specialists ranging from conservationists to authors, photographers, poets, musi-cians, movie makers and gardeners.

"We intend hosting one outing every month to a place of interest in the area, led by specialist field guides."Nature's Valley Trust's Adopt-a-River lesson with a local school.

The NVT wants to bring its supporters closer to its everyday work activities, and to continue building and strengthening lasting relationships with the people who make all their work possible.

"For our milestone birthday celebration, we are on a donation drive to source funding to cover our basic operational expenses, which will enable us to continue our conservation and research in the valley and surrounds.
