KNYSNA NEWSFLASH - The National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) is celebrating 50 years of existence today, Saturday 11 November, countrywide.
In Knysna the NSRI Station 12 have opened their doors to the public for all to see what they are about.
According to station commander Jerome Simonis, Station 12 itself is in its 48th year of existence.
He invites all residents to come by the station where one of the many men that keep our waters safe can take you on a tour of the station.
Visitors also have a chance to contribute to Station 12's wishlist, kids can get their faces painted, and there is even a bite to eat for those hungry visitors.
Station 12 will be open to the public until 13:00 today, so head down George Rex drive to The Heads.
You'll find Station 12 near the East Heads Café.
