PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Vehicle attendants in Plett will be receiving monthly training in various fields, thanks to a new initiative aimed at empowering them.
The first training session took place at Sol Kitchen in Main Street and was hosted by Plett Tourism.
Not only do vehicle attendants keep a close eye on motorists parked in and around Plett, but from now on they will be able to assist tourists with tourism-related enquiries.
The attendants were given the ins and outs of the local tourism body's website and were trained on how to direct visitors to the particular site. The training was hosted by Thandi Mabukane and Brayley Booysen of Plett Tourism.
"It is the first of the new monthly training sessions to empower them more," said Gerrie van der Walt of the Plett Car Attendant Project. Along with the training, they were given torches to those attendants who work during the nights.
"It is to assist them especially during load-shedding." The torches were sponsored by Plett.Watch, the local neighbourhood watch group.
Plettenberg Bay's vehicle attendants are all registered and regulated by the Plett Car Attendant Project and Bitou Law Enforcement.
They can be identified by their blue bibs sponsored by the Beacon Isle Spar.
