WILDERNESS NEWS - During levels 5 and 4 of lockdown the Wilderness Art Association (WAA) launched a creative 'Isolation Challenge' to lift the spirit of artists in the community.
Carole Durrant of the WAA says the challenge was motivated by the need for artists to express their emotions in their own unique way.
"During the isolation in April this year, our artists were expressing a type of creative lethargy. On our WhatsApp chat group they vented their frustration, depression and fear - something I'm sure the community as a whole was and still is experiencing. In an attempt to get their energies refocused, I encouraged them to take part in an Isolation Challenge where they could pour out these emotions on canvas. An expression that will reflect emotions experienced by a community at an extremely difficult period in history."
Artists responded positively. "We will be exhibiting the artworks in an open air exhibition in the gardens of Palm Garden Square on Thursday 18 June.
Extended viewing will be possible from 19 to 26 June at Cabesa Gallery, Shop 6 in the square," says Durrant.
Entrance is free.
