KNYSNA NEWS - On Thursday, 13 August, a collaboration between local crime fighters led to the arrest of four people allegedly in connection with a series of ATM robberies occurring in George, according to a statement issued by a local security company.
Around lunchtime on Thursday, Allsound Security said it, the police and other inter-town tactical partners received information to be on the lookout for a vehicle implicated in the crimes.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies said four men allegedly approached a victim at an ATM in George and offered assistance, when they took his bank card as well as an undisclosed amount of cash.
“They fled the scene in a vehicle that was later traced in Knysna,” he said.
Spies added that the four suspects between the ages of 27 and 28 years old, from Thembalethu in George, were arrested in connection with this incident.
“The suspects are still in custody and will appear in court when charged. The investigation into this matter continues,” he said.
