KNYSNA NEWS - A collaboration between local crime fighters has led to the arrest of four people allegedly in connection with a series of ATM robberies occurring in George, according to a statement issued by a local security company.
Around lunchtime on Thursday, Allsound Security said it, the police and other inter-town tactical partners received information to be on the lookout for a vehicle implicated in the crimes.
Allsound Security said, in response to the information, they positioned an unmarked vehicle on the N2 as a spotter.
“About an hour later, the suspects’ vehicle was seen entering town (Knysna) on the main road. An alert was sent out for back-up as officers joined the pursuit and Knysna SAPS were notified. The suspect vehicle suddenly picked up speed and attempted to evade capture,” said Allsound.
According to the statement, five Allsound Security vehicles managed to box in the suspects and bring the vehicle to a stop. “All four suspects were detained with no injuries sustained. Three SAPS vehicles arrived on the scene to take the suspects into custody.”
The police have not yet responded to the questions sent to them about the incident.
