KNYSNA NEWS - To help struggling organisations, the MG Car Club has passed on funds raised by its work at the Simola Hill Climb to these struggling organisations.
First on the list was the Knysna Disaster Fund that has been in operation for over three decades providing help to fire victims. On Thursday, 22 August they received R10 000 worth of blankets and next on their list is Knysna Epilepsy Centre that is home to 50 permanent residents and caters to 21 day-care visitors; their ages range from 18 to 70. They too will receive a donation of power tools and other items to the value of R10 000 to upgrade their workshop.
The handover to the centre is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 27 August at the Centre.
With just hours before their next handover, MG Club’s chairman Bruce Henderson said , “It is a privilege for us to be able to assist both the Disaster Fund and ‘Epilepsy’. The latter have suffered financially as a result of a 40% reduction in their Government funding and the tools will enable their residents to produce wooden items for sale to boost the facility’s income.”
