KNYSNA NEWS - The body of a 43-year-old man was found among the rocks at the Knysna Heads last week Thursday, police confirmed this week.
A local made the discovery on his way to work on the morning of 27 September and immediately alerted the necessary authorities, who responded to the scene.
The NSRI duty crew in town was activated following the report and an inquest docket was subsequently opened by the police.
Jerome Simonis, NSRI Knysna station commander, said, "The body of the deceased man was brought to our NSRI rescue base and taken into the care of the forensic pathology services."
Knysna police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies said no foul play is suspected but that all the circumstances surrounding his death are being investigated.
"A postmortem to determine the cause of death will be held later," Spies said, adding that the name of the deceased could not be released yet as a formal identification still needed to be conducted.
