KNYSNA NEWS - Recently, the Childhood Cancer Awareness Campaign took place at the Salt and Petal Café in Knysna, leaving a lasting impact on those in attendance.
The campaign was organised by the Knysna Lions, that played a pivotal role in rallying support from the community.
Their efforts were met with overwhelming success as they managed to collect over 240 items including beanies, teddies, and other toys specifically for children battling cancer. The event was held on Mandela Day, 18 July.
Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and Global Hope, a programme of Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine, joined hands in the drive to boost childhood cancer survival rates in sub-Saharan Africa.
By raising awareness and fostering community involvement, the partnership aims to provide better access to quality care and treatment for children facing this formidable disease.
The Knysna Lions' initiative not only showcased the compassion and generosity of the local community, but also highlighted the power of collective action in making a difference.
Their efforts demonstrated that even the smallest contributions can have a profound impact on the lives of children battling cancer.
