KNYSNA NEWS - If you happened to be at the Knysna Waterfront these past two weeks, driven out towards George on the N2, or went along to Swartvlei beach in Sedgefield you might have noticed some action at the water’s edge. But what was going on?
A Finnish production team, with a few South African connections, is currently filming adventure show Eternal Glory in Sedgefield and Knysna.
According to producer Anna-Maria Meurman, the show – which is similar to US reality competition Amazing Race – incorporates teams made up of eight former Olympic medal winners from Finland, who take part in different adventure tasks.

“These athletes are all professionals who have taken part in world championship events or the Olympics in the past. It is our fourth time shooting here with Patrick Walton. I always think it is my last time but I keep coming back,” she said.
Walton, the South African producer on the show, said that Knysna and Sedgefield are obvious choices for a show like this. “We have such diverse and beautiful locations here and the short distance between the two locations makes it easy to film.”

According to Walton, Sedgefield Tourism and the Knysna municipality were a great help to the crew.
Sedgefield Tourism manager Belinda Hobson said the contestants were tested to the limits at Swartvlei beach and caravan park during their time in Sedgefield.
“Sedgefield and the Garden Route have provided the perfect backdrop for yet another international series which was filmed over two weeks in and around Sedgefield and Knysna.

"The crew and clients consisted of a group of 62 people and the region benefited both on a skills level and economically by hosting the production. The tourism spin-off is hard to gauge but will most certainly bring further visitors to our beautiful region,” she said.
Local Chaise Hofhuis quipped that the wrap party felt more like a “locals event” due to the number of local people hired to work on the series.
