Knysna Tourism Office staff will be making a bold statement on May 2 during the Globeflight Pink Loerie Street Parade by wearing one pink shoe. This statement shows their commitment to embrace the initiative of marketing Knysna as the first truly pink town in Africa. A town that shows it welcomes, accommodates and celebrates the GLBTI community.
This initiative forms part of a longer term strategy that lives symbiotic to the very core of Knysna, and permeates all spheres of Knysna’s ecosystem.
“A journey of 1 000 miles begins with a single step, and this is ours... Put your pink foot forward on Saturday by wearing one pink shoe / takkie / sock or leg warmer. Don’t forget to use #pinkfootfwd in all your tweets,”said Greg Vogt, Knysna Tourism CEO.
