PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - As South Africa remains on level 1 lockdown, Plett Rage is going ahead and school leavers are expected to descend on Plettenberg Bay for the start of the student festival this Friday 3 December.
Organisers confirmed that the festival will continue, saying discussions were held with the relevant role players after the President's announcement on Sunday 28 November that South Africa would remain on Level 1.
Last year, the Class of 2020 had to forego their "liberation holiday" due to pandemic regulations.
Under current regulations, the maximum number of people permitted to gather indoors is 750, and outdoors it is 2 000.
To mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the festival, organisers have said that they would have several "venues" where capacity would be limited to 500.
Organisers will also require each ticket holder to be vaccinated and provide a PCR test, not older than 72 hours, before the event starts. All festinos would also receive two to three rapid tests during the festival.
As an additional safety precaution, organisers will provide rapid Covid testing to all non-Ragers at no additional cost. These tests will be done at Flashbacks and Moby Dick's.
"As our President said, we need to act responsibly and look out for each other. Wear your mask, wash your hands, practise social distancing and limit contact with people who haven't been tested," said organiser Ronen Klugman.
He said should anyone test positive, it is required by law to self-isolate and that would mean ending their Rage experience.
The festival will start on 3 December and run until 7 December.
