"Incidents for the past month were mostly reported as happening in the vicinity of Grey Street, Nelson Street, Rawson Street and Main Street between 15:00 and 20:00 during weekdays."
Spies further explained that the perpetrators targeted parked vehicles which had valuable items left in full view of passersby.
"These items included laptops, motor radios, wallets and cameras."
"We again want to appeal to the public to ensure that valuable items are being kept out of sight from the public and rather locked in the boot."
In reference to the numerous house robberies that had been reported on recently, Spies commented: "Our records indicate that suspects were armed, either with a knife or fire-arm. These incidents were sporadic and included Belvidere, Old Place, Hunter’s Home and a farm near Rheenendal."
He explained that no arrests had been made in connection with these cases and assured that the investigation into these cases were ongoing. "Experienced members from the Knysna Detective Branch have been tasked to investigate these cases.
"We urge the public to come forward with any information that may lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. Information about suspicious-looking people or vehicles should be conveyed to the police immediately."
According to Spies members of the public could call the sector patrol vehicles for immediate assistance in cases of an emergency (refer to table).
He further requested, "Anyone with information about the house robbery cases may contact the investigating officers, Warrant Officers Johann Burmeister or Reginus Quine at Knysna Detective Branch at 044 302 6652."
