PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Amid the Covid-19 chaos, people still want to help those less fortunate than themselves, but figuring out how to go about it has become a bit of a challenge due to the lockdown regulations.
"Unlike the 2017 fires everything is constricted by Covid-19, so when a truck needs to be unloaded, only a few people can gather together to do that. It hampers this town's brilliant energy," Plett Tourism said in a statement this week.
The tourism body has compiled a list of ways on how to assist.
Donating food
People wishing to donate can do so by dropping food off at either the Plettenberg Bay Methodist Church between 09:00 and 13:00 from Monday to Friday. Local grocery stores are also acting as drop-off points and currently these include Woolworths, Pick Pay and Melville's Spar.
Donating money
Those who wish to donate money can deposit money into the PlettAid Foundation bank account. Banking details are available on the Plett Tourism website and the beneficiary reference should include "Covid19 and the donor's surname".
Volunteering
Several areas have set up coordinators and anyone wishing to assist in a specific area can contact that person.
