PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a hit-and-run incident claimed the life of a local man.
Police spokesperson Captain Marlene Pieterse said the incident happened on the N2 near Harkerville on Wednesday night 14 October at 20:45.
She explained that Johnny Wildeman (54) was walking along the national road towards his home in Harkerville when he was knocked over by a passing vehicle near Nicky's Bush Pub, and he was found next to the road by passers-by.
"He was found with multiple injuries and subsequently succumbed to his injuries," Pieterse said.
She added that the vehicle is believed to be a transport truck, but the driver did not stop following the incident and is therefore unknown at this stage. Pieterse said a culpable homicide case was opened with Kwanokuthula police and is under investigation.
