PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay police are calling on the public for assistance in solving a violent business robbery which rocked the usually peaceful coastal holiday town more than a year ago.
Police spokesman Captain Marlene Pieterse said detectives were trying to locate on of the suspects in the crime which happened at the Engen garage in Beacon Way on Sunday 13 October 2016.
“No arrests have been made following this business robbery,” Pieterse said.
She added that at about 01:30 a petrol attendant, who had just assisted the occupants of a grey Toyota Etios, was held up at gunpoint by one of the occupants.
“He was forced into the vehicle where the suspects took his clothes and petrol tag before forcing him inside the garage shop.”
Pieterse said the suspects then proceeded to kick and hit the shop staff with their firearms before taking cash, petrol and cigarettes worth about R30 000. They then made off in one of the petrol attendants’ vehicles.
Pieterse said an identikit of one of the suspects had since been compiled.
“We urge anyone with information with regards to the business robbery to contact detective Warrant Officer JJ Pretorius 044 501 1943 office or 073 026 2188.”
She added the information would be treated with strict confidentiality.
