KNYSNA NEWS - A Knysna teacher and learner received an international award, recognising their hard work in the classroom.
The British Council, on behalf of Cambridge Assessment International Education, recently honoured teachers and learners for their efforts and two of these awards went to Heatherhill School in Knysna.
Teacher Lola la Grange received an award for her tireless effort, dedication and excellence in shaping young minds for the future – a characteristic that has played a role in the 100% pass rate over the school's 21-year history.
Learner Luke Goodall received an award for being one of the top students internationally. Goodall excels in every subject including chemistry, biology and mathematics, and participates in extramural activities including chess.
Not only did the pair receive a certificate for their efforts, but were also given gift packs including a computer tablet for Goodall.
“It is an honour to be recognised for the work that goes into shaping the young minds entrusted to us. It is a major responsibility and we strive to fulfil that daily,” La Grange said.
Goodall said the award was unexpected, but a welcome feather in his cap. “I wasn’t aware that such an award would be bestowed upon students, but it is wonderful recognition for the effort we invest in our education,” he said.
